Mark Armour (founder & co-owner), originally from Belfast, Ireland, settled in Boston in 1998 after traveling the world for years. He has worn many hats in his lifetime – chef, bricklayer, travel agent, skydiving instructor, and restaurant manager, to name a few. Check out his blog Here!

 

Mark Walter (co-owner & operations manager), originally from North Carolina, moved to the Boston area in 1997 to attend graduate school for violin performance. He never even started the program, though – sheer panic about the musician’s life forced him to pack up his instrument and go to work behind the scenes of various arts organizations.

The pair moved to Dorchester in 2005. When Mark A’s brother- and sister-in-law needed help with their Watertown/Belmont dog-walking company, Active Paws, he assisted them for a couple of weeks. He quickly realized he had found his life’s passion and decided to bring quality dog walking to Dorchester & South Boston. The Pooped Pooch grew exponentially, and Mark W was onboard within a year, both taking care of pets and running the business side of things.

After years of caring for animals, the Marks have accumulated a good amount of knowledge about the pet food industry. Hence their latest venture – The Pooped Pooch Pet Supply in the Lower Mills neighborhood of Dorchester. The focus of the store is on natural and holistic pet products, and the Marks are stocking the small shop full of healthy and fun items that were previously unavailable on a local level.
